Embark on a 3-day, 2-night guided trek from Caldwell, West Virginia, to Mile Marker (MM) 22.5 on the Greenbrier River Trail (GRT). Designed for hikers who want to explore the beauty of West Virginia while learning about pack goat trekking, this adventure offers the perfect balance of hiking, nature immersion, and gourmet trail dining.

Trip Details

  • Starting Point: Park at the southern trailhead in Caldwell, WV. A shuttle will return you to your car after the trek.

  • Pack Goat Trekking: Meet our goats, load their packs with your gear (hammock, sleeping bag, extra clothes), and carry only your daypack.

  • Trail Experience: Hike a smooth, crushed limestone trail through stunning river valley vistas, deep woods, and towering rock cliffs.

Itinerary Highlights

  • Day 1: Hike 7.5 miles to MM 10/Keister Station.

  • Day 2: Cover 13 miles to MM 22.5/Spring Creek.

  • Day 3: Relax with a hearty breakfast before completing your adventure.

What to Bring

  • Daypack: For water bottle, snacks, and lightweight rain gear.

  • Clothing: Seasonally appropriate layers, sturdy hiking boots or trail shoes, and a hat.

  • Overnight Gear: Hammock with a low-temperature underquilt or sleeping bag in a dry bag.

  • Essentials: Personal care kit, flashlight, bag lunch for Day 1, and additional snacks.

  • Suitable for ages 12+ with trail hiking experience.

  • Medium to high fitness and endurance levels required.
