FAQ

General Questions

1. What is pack goat trekking?

Pack goat trekking involves hiking with trained goats that carry your gear. It allows you to explore nature without the burden of heavy packs while enjoying the companionship of gentle, curious animals.

2. Who can participate in your adventures?

Our treks are suitable for all ages and fitness levels, with options ranging from leisurely day hikes to more challenging multi-day expeditions. We also provide ADA-compliant facilities for guests with mobility needs.

3. Are the goats friendly?

Absolutely! Our goats—Ragnar, Athelstan, and Floki—are American Alpine goats raised and trained to bond with humans. They are gentle, well-behaved, and enjoy interacting with guests.

4. What happens if the weather is bad?

All our events are all-weather experiences. We recommend dressing appropriately for the conditions and bringing rain gear for added comfort.

Booking & Pricing

5. How do I book a trek?

You can book directly through our website by selecting your desired trek on the Book a Trek page. For HipCamp stays, visit our HipCamp profile for availability.

Due to the nature of our all-weather events, we do not offer cancellations. Rescheduling may be accommodated with advance notice. Please contact us for details.

Goats & Safety

Yes! Our pack goats are trained to carry up to 25% of their body weight. This allows them to carry food, gear, and other essentials comfortably.

11. Is it safe to hike with pack goats?

Safety is a top priority. Our guide, Aaron Coleman, is in contact with the Forest Service, trained in first aid and ensures all treks are conducted responsibly. The goats are well-behaved and accostomed to interacting with new people.
