Our Story
The Greenbrier Goat was born from a passion for the outdoors and a love for our pack goats. We believe in creating inclusive, accessible adventures that connect people to nature in meaningful ways.

Meet Your Guide
Hi, my name is Aaron Coleman and I am the founder of The Greenbrier Goat. I’ve always enjoyed science, art and nature. That evolved into a love for outdoor adventure and sharing the dark skies and hidden beauty of West Virginia. My journey as a guide began in the Cranberry Backcountry, where I honed my wilderness skills, stoked my adventurous spirit and developed a true respect the unique weather patterns of our ancient valley. Here, in 'The Birthplace of Rivers' I began to create a vision of the benefits of having a four-legged companion on the trail. Upon my return from a particularly humbling backcountry trip I dedicated myself to our future and began raising three American Alpine goats—Ragnar, Athelstan, and Floki—from birth, bottle-feeding them to ensure they’re gentle and well-trained, perfect for pack goat trekking. Whether I’m leading-day treks, section hikes or hosting our famous Bacon Days event, my commitment to safety, inclusivity and our outdoor community shine through. For me, it’s all about being creative and connecting people with nature through our amazing pack goats.
